This is my first Mercedes and my LAST!!!!
I have had the vehicle now for 9 months and up to 2 weeks ago I loved it. My car is just over 4 years old (02 plate, 50,000 miles) and in the last 2 weeks has cost me over £3000 in repairs (and that was not at the expensive Mercedes dealership!) The auto transmission had to be replaced (which I have been informed is a common problem with these cars) and I now have problems with the oil sensors for which it is going into the Mercedes dealership to be looked at tomorrow! We also own a Lexus which has now clocked up over a 100,000 miles and apart from the normal servicing costs this car has not cost us a penny!! So guess what in the not too distant future I shall be trading in my Merc for a decent, reliable make!!!!
I always wanted to own a Mercedes - well, what a mistake. I have a 1999 A-Class 160 which I have had for over three years now. The repair cost is unbelievable, with the Mercedes dealer charging £80 per hour.
My first problem was when my car just stopped. No other garage would look at it and they all referred me to the dealer. After three days in the garage, the Mercedes dealer discovered that my car required a replacement fuel sensor. I was £917 worse off after that visit.
When, in the garage, one of the rear springs broke, I managed to get that fixed at a local gargage at a fraction of the cost Mercedes were going to charge. To date my car is lying in our driveway with an airflow meter problem which will cost approximately £1000 to repair at the Mercedes dealer as no-one else can fix it.
I have written to Mercedes UK to complain at the cost of repair, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. I would never buy a Mercedes again, it's the worst car I have ever had. Everyone should be made aware of the poor standard of vehicle Mercedes Benz has produced in this case.
I will never buy a Mercedes again even if I were to win the lottery.
I absolutely love this car.I have owned it a few years now,and whilst it had a few niggles,Nationwide autocentres have serviced this car adequately for a reasonable £100.I have 100 per cent confidence in my car.It has now done 80.000 miles and has served us well.
