    My car

Cant seem to understand some reviews. Before buying this car I was so scared that may be my money gonna go down the drain but belive you me this gave me the best drive so far. So comfortable, strong grip on the road, jam packed with facilities, smooth on motorways, smooth gearbox, friendly user and pleasure to drive. I had 2 toyota avensis before this but I never found them as reliable as people say. You can truly judge a cars reliablity when you put real miles on the clock not 50 miles per week and then leaving a feedback that the car is reliable. I drive 500 miles a day, 5 days a week so that is 10000 miles a month and 1200000 miles a year. so I can tell you which car has got stamina . Forget about german as totally a brand name. Go for japanese like nissan or toyota.

    My car

I've owned this 53 model for just under 4 years, from 14K miles, and its now done 111K miles. It's extremely well equipped and the rear camera is a godsend. The satnav is good, and the whole Radio/CD and heating/ventilation system is easy to use. The diesel is very economical (better when NOT using supermarket diesel) and on my long distance commute it returns better than 50mpg. Sevicing costs are generally OK, unless they coincide with a repair bill. On the not so good side, rear visibility is bad for reversing, hence the need for the camera. It's also had a few notable failures; a rear wheel bearing (I never had one of these go before, even on an Austin Montego with BLs much loved absence of build quality), a turbo and two diesel injectors. It also goes through front brake pads quite quickly (3 sets so far, plus a set of discs) and I am not a particularly fast driver, though strangely enough it is not heavy on tyres. In all a pretty decent car, a couple of expensive failures but they have been caught at the service intervals - its not failed on a journey. Its not a "nippy" car but winding it up to around 70mph on the motoway, it cruises fine and eats the miles up. Its certainly not put me off looking at Nissans when we replace this one.

    My car

Very disappointed - bought car for reliability because husband had an Almera and was very pleased, and friends had praised reliability of their Primeras. Bought for nearly 7K 3 years old. Headlight not working when went to collect, glove compartment door kept falling open (until part was ordered to fix), within three weeks of purchase had major power loss accelerating onto dual carriageway which continued intermittently. When booked in 5 weeks later (Christmas intervened) brakes had started grinding and as brake calipers had seized, had worn down brake pads - not under warranty. Told power loss due to buying supermarket diesel with water in it, as water had been found in fuel filter. Charged for new filter. 2 days later same power loss so booked back in, to be told was a fault turbo charger - fix available at £1734.20! Now in discussion with dealer following advice from Trading standards office for either full refund or at very least full payment of repair - dealer head office has only offered 50% so far. Will not buy another Primera - extremely disappointed.
