I have my 1007 for just over a year and i have never been so disappointed. It was a complete waste of money. It devalued £4000 in a year with only 20,000 miles on the clock. It has a lot of mechanical faults with it and how anyone can say it is fuel economical i have no idea. Definately don't buy one unless you have back/leg problems and are only using it occasionally. I am not trying to sell it and getting nothing for it. A complete disappointment on Peugeot's behalf.
We bought our car last April at 10 months old & 1/2 list price. We sought something a bit different, that could still do school run, or a couple of large dogs to the park, or three bales of shavings to the stables! Finally, it also had to contrast with the Subaru Tribeca we had also just purchased - similar scenario to Richard Brown's earlier review.
She's up to 17,000 miles now, & the boss and I fight to use her! The doors are actually brilliant when it's raining - zap them as you walk up, hit the zapper again just as you start to get in & the door's closed, you've not had to put down bags, touch wet handles, etc. The sliding or easily foldable rear seats offer all the options between kids, dogs and shavings! Performance, while not a Ferrari, is perfectly good, as is ride, steering & handling Comfort & equipment levels are very good.
As for costs, local runs hover around 50 mpg, long runs such as Gloucestershire to Exeter nearly 70mpg (& I don't hang around!). No servicing yet, albeit had to replace all four tyres - could only find the same Dunlops as original equipment - a bit pricey. We did have a fault with the door last summer & a rumbling wheel bearing, both fixed under warranty. Olympic Cars in Cirencester handled with excellent friendly & efficient service.
This car is an absolute bargain both to buy nearly new & to run, and, providing you forget the laughable Sport connotation, is a great fun car to use.
You will gather from my five star ratings that I judge this car highly. Why? you may ask - well I have a bad back and sciatic pain in my left leg and this car has been my saviour. The electric doors mean I can get in and out far more easily than a car with a manual "push open" and "pull closed" mechanism - how old fashioned! The Auto gear box with 2-Tronic gears means I have control over the car when I need extra speed and I can rest my left leg without the clutch. The seats are extremely comfortable and highly supportive and height gives you an edge when looking for traffic. Everybody who sees it loves the doors just about as much as I do! I have had three problems in two and a half years of ownership. They are: 1.Car brokedown due to a failure in a poteniometer - which regulates the accelerator. The car just cut out. But hey the garage gave me a Toyota Prius whilst it was being fixed! 2. The gear changes on the Auto are too slow - the car over revs before it settles in the new gear. 3.The software in the ECU seems to be a bit flakey which has led to "updates" being required at the garage. All that said I still think the car is great but am sad that Peugeot have now dropped the Auto because of all the problems. THE 1007 IS ONLY CAR THAT IS A DRIVE-AWAY SOLUTION FOR PEOPLE WITH BACK/LEG PROBLEMS. Remember this when you break your leg ski-ing or do damage to your back manual lifting. This car is unique and worth every penny!
I BOUGHT MY CAR 1007 August last year. First I had problems with off-side door. In first week I had to take to garage. Second time I had problem with near-side door shutting on freinds leg. Then I have to have new meconitoin in off-side door new. I got horrible noise coming from either driver's side or under dash.
Not happy at all.
