a few weeks ago i gave my opinion on my peugeot 407. Nothing has changed . the car is now going I will not be buying a peugeot again,i dont agree with some people who say the ride is good i think its ok on the motorway but poor and fidgity on anything but good surfaces, the build is poor the driver involvement is only average. lastly it loses money like no other car i have owned and trust me i have owned over 60 cars so i do have some idea. anyway enough of the moaning . i am pleased to say the car goes this week and i have treated myself to a new vw. no more french cars for me.
In reponse to Andrew Jones of cheshire, I have had my 407 for 12 months now, bought it last year with delivery mileage on, ran ok for 3 months and have had nothing but problems with it ever since, it is currently in the garage AGAIN for the 9th time for a persistent problem with the depollution filter, car judders like yours, loses speed, misses revs!!!!!! Peugot assure me that this has never happened before!!!! They clear the filters and return the car to me only for it to happen again a few weeks later, since October of last year the service department have had my car 9 separate times for a total of 3 months!!!!! The car itself has only done 6ooo miles, am seriously considering legal action against peugot!!!!!! It is so frustrating, cannot wait to get rid of this horrendous car,
Bought the car at 6 months old in 2005. Didn't have it 2 weeks and it was back getting the boost valve sorted. Since then it behaved well enough until I got it serviced at 40000 miles and discovered the exhorbitant cost of the particulate additive (added another £100 to the cost of the service. Then last summer the front suspension joint failed. The mechanic told us at the time that it is a Peugeot weakness. Now at 68 000 miles, the clutch is failing and I've just had to replace the fuel pump (£600). I have had 3 Peugeots, starting with a 306, then a 307 and now the 407. The 306 is probably the best car that I have owned and the decline through the 307 to the current 407 quite easy to see. Don't get me wrong all are good cars to drive and have comfortable seating but the quality of workmanship is highly questionable and it seems that there are a large number of people with problems with this car. Not only that but problems outwith the warranty period are extremely costly and this experience has put me completely off Peugeot. The car is now being traded in against a Saab 9-3 and I can't wait to be rid of it.
Our car, otherwise known as 'Christine', has been nothing but a nightmare since we bought it. We paid £9000 for it, and shortly after needed £2500 worth of work doing on it under warranty (thankfully) to correct problems with the air con, radio, steering and to replace a blown turbo, amongst other things. Unfortunately, soon after the warranty ran out the clutch and fly wheel went-at a personal cost to us of £1200! My neighbour bought one a year newer, and has also started experiencing some problems with his steering. Peugeout made a real mess of this one. Surprised trading standards can't hold them responsible for creating and selling something not fit for the purpose it was intended! An awful car, and an expensive lesson.

Owned for 1 year, as family runabout Pros good size, general build quality, powershift gearbox, good to drive, low costs Cons handling slighly…
Had this car for 90k from new. A 56 plate. In over 2,000,000 miles driven this one has broken down the most of any car I have had. DO NOT get a 2.0…
