    My car

I have just bought a 3.4s, 6 month old demonstrator from Porsche Glasgow and it is fab, fab, fab.

The night before I picked it up, I was like a 5 year old boy on Christmas Eve, could not sleep. Loads of extras on the car 19 inch alloys, heated sports seats, stereo upgrade, Xenons, parking sensors, tracker, wind shield, etc etc, 3k miles on the clock and saved quite a few grand of list price. This thing is excellent. The grunt of the 3.4 flat six that sits just behind you is amazing (who needs music), and the 295 wild horses just want to get out and gallop all of the time. Honest, you should not have this much fun with your clothes on !!! The handling is so precise and the steering is as sharp as a barbers razor. Acceleration, even in 6th gear is just a breeze. Cabin finish is also excellent, with no rattles at all, and when the easy to operate roof is up, there is no wind noise. Servicing is now every 2 years or 20k. This is one exceptional car and I am a very happy person.

    My car

So after two months of reading all the various reviews on the web/worrying incessantly about all the various reported problems/distinct lack of happy Boxster owners, I decided to take the plunge and buy my first Boxster (2.7).

All I can say is a very loud and resounding (after seven months of ownership) wow WOW wow!

The cabin is of excellent quality, especially with the luxury pack I went for.

The drive at low speeds is uber crisp and purposeful. It's sedate around town but ultra responsive when required.

Over 4000 revs with the top down and 'that' noise starts, fantastic! It gives you goose bumps like hearing your first born speak for the first time.

As for the running costs, well, the computer says I'm getting 31mpg average as due to the sizeable lump you'll be just ticking over at 2900 revs at 75mph.

The handling, needs no more comment.

In summary, it was a dream for me to own one since being a kid and seven months in I still walk a little quicker to the underground car park every morning.

A Ford Mondeo will be worth 25% of its value in a few years and bore you to tears - if you can afford a Boxster just buy one and remember life is for living.

    My car

Got a face lifted model in Sep 2005.

The driving experience is 1st class, roof down it’s excellent, and the ability to raise/lower the roof at up to 30mph has saved the day on a few occasions when caught in unexpected rain.

I had a few niggles at the outset (all fixed by the dealer at no charge), rattling roof was main problem, and misaligned wipers. Only recurring issue is smearing on inside of windows after rain or if the car has been washed, been into the dealer at least 3 times to get this fixed, but still got the problem.

I’ll be changing the car in Sep 07 after approx 20K miles. The tyres are still OK, the fuel consumption has been around 28mpg average, and apart from some oil the car hasn’t cost me a penny.

Only downside is cost of options (alloys £700, Bose £800, Partial leather £700)

If you’re looking for practical, fun motoring look no further than the Boxster.

    My car

I bought this car in February 07 with 10,000miles on a 05 plate. This was after owning the previous model for 6 months. The running costs may be high but when compared to other 2 seater convertibles there is no comparison. I have owned an Audi TT 225, a 3.0 BMW Z4 the 986 Boxster and a Mercedes SLK 200. I have also driven the Honda S2000. All of these were good, but not a patch on the Porsches. Once you have driven the Porsche the others just don't give you the same satisfaction. My advice is don't be put off by some of the people who have had bad experiances with theirs. People often only write these reviews when they are unhappy. I never had to spend a penny on repairs on my 986 model and so far touch wood nothing on the new one. Whilst talking of running costs, the new model is much cheaper to run than the old, as services are cheaper and the service intervals are now 20,000 miles or 2 years. Buy one like I did which had just been serviced and you can sell it without ever having to pay service costs. For less than £30,000 there is no car that I have experianced that can satisfy you like a Boxster. Buy one and put a smile on your face every time you drive it!
