I have owned a W-reg 25 1.6i L for the last four years. The engine is brilliant. It revs smoothly all the way to the red and pulls well. The rest of the car makes it, quite honestly, the worst I have ever owned. It had to go back to Rover for attention 14 times in the first year alone, and not for minor faults. The car has been regularly serviced by Rover during my tenure, and yet has still required a new windscreen seal, new rear screen seal, two speedometers, a new gearbox, a new clutch and a new starter motor. What's more, the central locking on the driver's door failed, as did the boot lock, the rear wash/wipe, the indicator switch, the electric sunroof and the electric mirror on the driver's side. Finally, the driver's seat adjuster jammed, two heatshields cracked, the petrol cap lock seized and the rear door hinges went rusty after six months. Rover tried to cure various rattles on it for two years, until I just gave up. I hate driving it because it just rattles and buzzes at any speed, and I can't wait to get rid of it. It's cheap enough to replace parts such as the exhaust, but at the end of the day the car feels like it was put together by people who didn't give a damn. I wouldn't have another Rover if they were giving them away free.
This car is about as powerless a car as I have ever driven. I wouldn't buy it again or anything like it if it was the last car on the road.
Problems in quallity with the car. Been back to the dealer several times with small problems. Service from the dealer could have been better. Took them 6 months to sort out an damaged seat cover.
Now the problems are sorted out it all in all a good car now. Service costs at rover garages are expensive.
Car runs well and feels good to drive. Would recomend the car to anyone - an older one with the problems sorted out.
A small car with big-car comfort.
