My car

I have a Jag XJR which is a bit leggy and used on fine days only, recently lost my job and my company car was a merc c220 which I utterly detested, noisy, souless, anodyne, dull, junk.....I think it is the only vehicle I have ever shut the door on and wanted to kick it....However..this is probably because it just did what it said on the (very expensive) tin..OK to the Saab, I bought this as my fuel bills up and down the M1 to London from Leeds were getting rather excessive once I lost my job and the free Merc...So I decided to buy a runabout and the Saab it is......two and a half grand on an 06 plate with starship mileage (140K) and I love it to bloody bits...It's a 1.9 TiD basic poverty spec but blimey its good on fuel, beats the Merc hands down, comfy, the ride is brilliant, cornering erm who cares I am on a mnotorway and comfy, great radio and the buttons are great! What other car has "Customise" written on a button? What does it do? Dunno! looks good and for the money is half the price of the German offerings with the added cahet of that people think you are sensible, so I drive the Saab to work and go mental in my V8 Supercharged Jag....best of all worlds...

Buy one, they are great, get the cam belt done at regular intervals though (Fiat Engine)

My car

What does this car say about you? I dont really know or care i know it supposed to be a thinking mans car and i thought long and hard about buying it and dont regret it one bit! What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car? All like it thinks it posh with met back paint and cream leather. looks like its worth alot more that it is. Definatly the best car ive owned to date and ive had alot, BMWs, Mercs, Volvos, Vauxhalls, Fords ,Mazdas and it beats the all hands down. Would you buy this car again and why? I they were still making them i would love a new shape 9-5 i will see how we get on over the next few years together before i make that dession. What's it like to drive? brilliant corners like its on rails, No really its great ive even tryed to unstick it and she just carried on. Its very comfortable which is a prob on the Mway as you can find your speed creaping up without you realizing. The only problem with the car i the slight Turbo lag if you feather the throtel between changes its hardley noticable. Mines got 150ps so she will pick up her skirt and run when asked and has all the power you really need on the roads these days, that being said im having it remapped soon to 207ps it doesnt really need it but i want to see if it will sort out the Turbo lag and give me alittle more MPG. Favourite gadget, option or accessory? Probabley the see you home light option. There is a button on the key remote with a line on it press this and the front drls ligh

My car

How good is this car? Permit me to tell you a story. On the afternoon of 6 December 2010, my Saab led a convoy of three vehicles (the two beind being a van and a 4x4) from one end of the M8 to the other in one of the worst snowstorms in this country's history. From Harthill to outer Edinburgh, a distance of about 15 miles, there was nothing but deep pristine snow ahead of us. The journey took 4.5 hours, made less arduous by the superbly comfortable seats, with lengthy delays caused by weaving around broken down and bogged down vehicles, including getting out to politely push hopelessly overwhelmed RWD German saloons and their befuddled drivers out of our path. During the previous winter this car coped admirably with extreme conditions in February, in the Scottish Borders and in the Cairngorms, and managed to make it along routes that I had hardly dared hope were possible. All thanks to a combination of 2nd-gear take-off, very low revs from the torquey and robust 2.2TID engine, and a Swedish-built car (on a platform co-designed by Saab and Opel, not merely the latter) that proves that this company still delivers on its tradition of ordinary roadgoing cars that exhibit ruggedness and tenacity, delivered in style. Oh, and I upgraded the car to 17in Vector alloys and put in improved speakers to make it just right. Yes, the plastic on some control knobs is weak, the amp is poor, a few rattles, but after four years of ownership and 140,000 miles (half by me) I am delighed.

My car

I bought the car when it was just three years old and have been generally delighted at the performance and comfort. It had only done 21,000 miles and I have added around 10,000 in the last 18 months. I have had a problem with the gearbox which had to be replaced at around 26,000 miles but this was handled to my satisfaction by Saab and the extended warranty insurance. The fuel economy is excellent (even though my right foot is heavier than my wife would sometimes like)and the fact that much of my motoring is now short hops with only occasional longer trips to Scotland. A round trip of 550 miles is easily achieveable on one tank of diesel.
