    My car

My complaint with this car is the-to me- excessively hard suspension. I never had any complaint with the earlier model which carried me in relative small-car comfort for 25000 miles with exceptional economy, and with enough power to pull a caravan. i thought that moving up to the new model would offer the same - but the ride is bumpy and uncomfortable. Does anyone out there with the same model agree? I am seriously considering disposing of it after only 3 months! Barry Martin Bolton

    My car

The new Skoda Fabia, the "largest" of all small cars, is one of the better things that has happened to men lately. A friend owns one and it's such a lovely-easy-fun car to drive. It makes those basic BMW drivers look very weak indeed on the motorway - and I am not kidding!

Being tailgated too, is no longer a problem.

Searing performance when its needed, it's well suited for a drive in the city as well as a cross-country trip.

The new model again represents progress, in particular in the traditional values of the Skoda brand – spaciousness and value for money.

The serial accessories for this cleverly designed compact car include four airbags, ABS and electrical-hydraulic power steering.

    My car

My previous car was a 1.4 16v Fabia Elegance. The new Fabia compares well with my previous experience with Skoda - which has been good.

I had ESP and all-round disks added. One surprise is that the brakes are not as effective as on my previous Fabia. On that 04 reg car the (all-round disk) brakes were really fierce but once you got used to that then they were absolutely invaluable.

Inside comfort is superior to my previous Fabia. In use the driver's side wind noise on the motorway is a real pain and something Skoda should have spotted at the design stage.

The ride is firm but acceptably so. It handles well around corners (but not as well as my ageing 306). Acceleration through the gears is excellent with max torque around 4000rpm

Minor point: the car is higher than the previous Fabia so the radio aerial catches on my garage door. I had to buy a shorter aerial . . .

    Overall worth the outlay.
