    My car

I own a 1.8 litre, purchased new in 2001. To date, it has done 67,000 miles. It consistently averages in excess of 36mpg, uses no oil between 10,000 mile changes and is still fittted with the original pads and discs. Only last week the original Michelin Pilot tyres, fitted to the rear wheels, were changed. From these basic facts you can understand why I still own the car!

Of course it has some faults. The driver's seat has become 'soft' so that it has to be adjusted to its full up position (I am of average height)and there is a problem with the ventilation system which has steadily become worse without my being able to identify the reason. It is also fitted with factory supplied mud guards which all too often ground on sleeping soldiers even if you are careful. And, finally, I still cannot come to terms with the fact that it does not have a rear screen wiper.

So, all in all, I am quite happy to keep it for at least another year, perhaps longer.

    My car

hi rushed into buying this car when the diff in my old vectra broke had to get car there and then so had no idea about the car. i think it was the best thing i ever did the 1.8 engine sounds georgeous when you put your foot down and the ride is hard but smooth if you know what i mean i went and bought leather interior as i didnt have one origanaly i also recomend changing the aperance with a badgeless grill. If you want one with leather get one with it already, finding a leather interior for one is almost impossible trust me ive been there and they are not cheap overall this car is great head turner and is good value cars with rear spoilers look better i had to buy one of those to again get one that already has one i dont think you can go wrong with this car if you look after it

    My car

I bought this car about 5 weeks ago and have had nothing but problems. The main one to date has been an ill functioning gear system, where whenever the car feels like it, it refuses to change gear!!! It locks in neutral, and the only way to solve the problem is to roll to a stop and try again in a few minutes. I've nearly suffered two major accidents as a result of this problem. I've attempted to return it to the dealership, but they can't find anything wrong with the gears and tell me I'm imagining it...! I'm not. I am now part exchanging this car for a different make as I have been put off Vauxhall's for life as a result of this car. I would never, ever buy this car again, and I strongly reccomend that no one else does!!! Maybe it's just me having bad luck, but this car is a death trap!!! BEWARE!!

    My car

I have owned this car (badged Opel) in Nostromo Metallica Blue (r something like that) for nearly a year now. Overall, I feel it is a fairly good car. Sporty but discreet.

The 2.2 litre engine is quick and torque-y; a good dosage of power from 3000-6000 revs - (where I wimp out for fear of engine damage).

So far have had little to complain of concerning running costs, MPG of just over 30 (so its a bit expensive for my 22+k miles a year, but hey..its only money)...no mechanical faults to write of.

Power steering is a nice weight and I use cruise control frequently. I rarely get the light for Traction control cutting in, but its nice to know its there (particularly in snow/ice).

Road tax is very expensive, although insurance is varied, I pay around £550 but have been quoted close to a £1000.

Overall; for the money its a pretty good package - although I really fancy a BMW 323/325 Series (of similar age) when I sell my Opel Bertone.

The only gripe I have is road noise, the motorway and dual carriageways are noisy affairs, still in 4th at 80+ the engine and exhause make a deep snarl which just about makes up for it.
