    My car

This car, with an automatic transmission, was my wife's motability car from March 2005 until March 2008. She needed a fairly tall car for ease of access, and we chose this model because it was a very good deal on Motability at that time, Vauxhall obviously clearing the decks for the new model. In the past we had always owned small, cheap cars, and this one was a revelation compared to it's immediate predecessor, a WagonR. It was reliable and comfortable, my wife once slept all the way from Newton Abbot to M5 Jcn 21.((I was driving!) Two flaws, however. being a 1.8 petrol automatic it was, compared to anything we had owned it was a gas guzzler. Also, annoyingly, the front wheel trims fell off with annoying regularity. If you need an MPV, then Iwould reccomend this car strongly.as in all other aspects it was excellent. We have just taken delivery of a Ford Focus Style 1.6 automatic, which is already proving much more ecomomical.

To Neil Robertson - your problem sounds like its a faulty EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve.

We had our Zafira from new and it drove well for six months. Then it would cut out at junctions and run poorly. The AA guy who attended our breakdown knew immediately what the problem was - a faulty EGR valave.

It was replaced under warranty amd six months later the same fault developed. Again it was replaced under warranty, then six months later - guess what, faulty EGR valave for the third time.

I wrote to Vauxhall who said they were not aware of any problems with EGR valves.

I rang around local dealerships to see if they had any ideas (our local one was useless) and eventually found a superb dealership within 10 miles of where we live.

I explained the problem and the garage told me that Vauxhall had only a week before released an approved modification to blank off the EGR valve and reprogram the engine control system to ignore it. She told me they had modified 60 1.6 Zafiras within the first week of the modification being released.

The modification was carried out under warranty and the car was totally different to drive. Throttle response was superb.

The car is now four years old and, apart from the EGR valve and A notchy gearchange, it has been a pleasure to own.

Fuel economy is great from the very willing 1.6 engine.

    My car

I bought my 2.0DTI Elegance in November 04, 9mths old with 11,000mls on the clock. I've just sold it with 62000mls showing, and nothing has ever gone wrong with the car! I can't praise it enough: good to drive, and 45 plus per gallon. If you have a family or just want more room, this is the car for you.

    My car

Car is my wifes and we've had a few problems which no-one seems able to help us with. The car cuts out after we reach about 50 mph then slow down at a junction or roundabout. Changed 4 sensors which hasn't solved the problem. Changed the exhaust, which we were told might be the problem. Still cuts out. If anyone can help with this let us know. Our mechanic has told us to get rid of it. The car is also too thirsty with engine oil. I think we'll be going back to the Scenic.
