I bought a Zafira Club 2.0 DTi on a 53 plate (Oct 2003 ) and generally enjoyed the vehicle.
On the latter basis, I bought a second 2.0 DTi for my daughter-in-law; again this vehicle was excellent. Well satisfied with the purchased Club versions, I decided to upgrade to the 2.0 DTi Energy with its extra refinements, this being on a 54 plate (Oct 2004).
Unfortunately I've had a bad engine vibration from day one. It has been incurable via the dealers with Vauxhall's field engineers finally diagnosing it as a "characteristic of this vehicle and comparable to other Zaria diesels". Not true, for I have two other mechanically identical Zafiras WITHOUT this nasty and sickening vibration.
The matter has again been referred back to Vauxhall for further investigation with just 3700 miles on the clock. I await their remedy, and hopefully it will not have the "characterisitc" tag attached to it.
I own the Opel version, but it is the same. I think it is a rather useful car if you are talking about interior space. If you need a car that gives you a little bit of driving pleasure, you'd better not buy this car.
The comfort is very poor because of its jumpy rear axle. The front axle springs are too weak, especially in Holland where we have lots of traffic bumps.
As soon as possible I'll go back to a BMW 3 Series Touring, even though there is less space in it. I won't buy General Motors products anymore.
I bought this car four years ago and overall I have been delighted with its practicality and performance. I have not experienced a single problem in that time, save to say that the driver's wiper does not clean the screen right up to the door pillar.
In very dirty weather, the unswept area of screen coupled with the very thick door pillar can result in a dangerous blind-spot. However, I would recommend this vehicle to all except speed merchants and posers.
Good all round mpv but trim rattles a bit.
