I got this car 2 months ago and have been very pleased with it to date - only niggles are slight roof creak and a little bit of "messy" insulation on one of the rear windows. I was going too heed the "warnings" about the 18-inch wheels (and the ride is a bit ropey) but the opportunity to get a second hand Diesel Lux at a decent price was too good to miss. I agree with the previous poster's comments about the stereo - it has a great sound and is easily loud enough at half volume! It is a great car for cruising down the motorway and coming out of work in the sunshine to drive home for work with the roof down stil brings a smile to my face! One advantage of getting a Volvo convertible rather than BMW/Merc etc is that with the roof up it just looks like any other "normal" car - helps in being let-out at traffic queues. Definitely recommended and my salesman at Volvo Gloucester was excellent!
I had the previous C70, which I enjoyed driving around Europe and found it be a characterful car which got a lot of positive attention - more so around Europe, oddly enough.
When parking my SE Lux version of the new C70 next to the old one, you can really see what a quantum leap forward this car is.
There have been no real problems as such - the roof mechanism is a joy but the wind deflector and rear parking sensors are a must. As usual, dealerships are excellent.
The car is extremely comfortable and the Dynaudio sound system is essential if you want to really understand what this car is about.
Helping my sister-in-law choose her new convertible, you realise the unique edge this car has: the metal top; the side door-mounted airbags; and plenty of power and decent space on the back seat.
It's the only car which now compares with BMW (Mercedes asks too much money) and although as usual What Car? favours the BMW (close call), the Volvo would win for me due to practicality and safety concerns and BMW's very poor seat safety. 'Nuff said.
I have taken this car back to the dealership 4 times now because the roof does not open properly. They still cannot source the problem and keep returning it to me as "fixed". The problem is that they do not seem capable of fixing it or trouble shooting it. What a joke - I paid £30K for this car and they do not seem to be able to fix it. DO NOT BUY ONE!!!
I have rented this car for the weekend to get a decent test drive.
First impressions were good, a fantastic look and none of that 'bug-like' rear end.
The car drives very well, it's not the quickest in the world but then again what's the hurry! (so many cameras ready to take your picture these days).
The layout is traditional volvo, excellent for the driver and passenger. In the back, the seats are very comfortable and will seat two adults.
Overall I feel this car is fantastic - well built, great design, looks sexy - top up or down and is not as common on the road as other cabrios. Yes traction could be better, acceleration could be quicker BUT this car made me smile the whole time I drove it - try it yourself!
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
