Delighted with my jet black C70 limo with a kick in pants turbo. Comfy, powerful, stylish, sturdy, well equipped, orchestral sound system with umpteen speakers and which even includes an old fasioned casette player for Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk nostalgia tapes. Plus the CD and radio. Car is admired by most who see it. Like to get the wind in my hair. Rattles a little but these soft tops usually do that. I was motoring journalist for years till happy retirement and always fancied one of these C70s eventually. Now got one('04 reg)and so far so good. I've also got Hyundai Matrix for lugging stuff and people who won't all fit in my 40,000 mile C70. I recommend both. Have also found an independent Volvo dealer I hope I can trust for servicing etc. To anyone who has a soft top car and who want to reproof the roof against possible leaks I recommend simply buying a £4 bottle of tent/haversack watrerproofer and spraying it on. Works a treat. Bottles of official car roof proofer cost over £18.
I bought this car last November and it has been spot-on. The electric roof is great as there are no catches. etc to have to fiddle with, unlike the Mercedes CLK cabrio.
The engine sounds great and is quite economical and it has the biggest feel-good factor of any car I have ever owned (the Volvo is my 30th car!). The chassis is a very good compromise between comfort and dynamics and it can be hussled surprisingly easily.
The quality of the cabin and materials is top-notch and the stereo is awesom. I also love the fact that it looks stunning but is not the obvious choice; people would normally take the Audi, BMW, Saab, Mercedes without even looking at the C70. I think the 2.0t is the right engine for it; the T5 and to a lesser extent, the 2.4t imply that this could be a performance car, but its really not. Its all about the driving experience and feeling good, and in my opinion having driven all of the competition this car is the best in the class at that.
The c70 is a very good car. we have the 2.0 turbocharged version. it has done 67,000 miles and hasnt gone wrong once. it VERY rarely shakes, probaly twice a year. it is quick of the line and through the low gears. theres tons of leg room and it folding top is imaculate. the best thing is the sound. its amazing. of the start line it sounds like a 911. wonderful car.
I have just bought my Volvo C70 convertible. I know there has been a lot of discussion about the scuttle shake on them - I must say I test drove the same model in Southampton and it was terrible to drive.
However, not put off, I test drove another one near where I live and it was great. There was some movement on the steering wheel, but nothing to worry about.
I have since had a brace bar fitted and it has stiffened the front end - wow, what a difference that has made. I would suggest to anyone with a C70 to have one fitted.
These are great cars to drive and cruise in, and when we go to France this year we will be the really cool.
I have owned my Boxster now since 6 month and I am very happy with the car. I went to a Porsche dealer because I always wanted to drive one of these…
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
