In my opinion, the S60 narrowly beats the V70 as Volvo's best looking car. In 2.0T guise, the engine offers good performance with a lovely engine note from the five cylinders as the revs climb above 3,500rpm.
Having previously owned an S40, 2.0T, I would say that the four-cylinder unit - while not sounding as good - did not need the same revs to extract the performance.
Fuel consumption in mixed driving is staying above 33mpg according to the trip computer.
The interior of the car is very well layed out and having the extra SE specification it is a very comfortable place to be. Mechanical and road noise while cruising is virtually non-existant, so much so that the air flowing past the drivers window can be heard! Seats are without doubt THE highlight in the cabin.
The childern love the back seats with their separate air-vents, reading lights, storage pouches and an all-important 12V outlet. Leather seats and rubber-backed floormats mean that it's an area that can take some abuse.
Quibbles? The remote central locking could probably work from the far end of a large carpark which is handy if using the 'here I am' lighting at night, but I have noticed that the driver's door on occasion does not lock, so care needs to be taken when leaving the car.
The boot opening is pretty narrow and I would think is slightly deeper but smaller than that of a Mondeo.
