Volkswagen Sharan MPV 2.0 TDI 140 SEL 5dr Review

For The 140 diesel engine provides adequate performance and low running costs. SEL spec brings cruise control, a CD changer and a panoramic glass roof.

Against Acceleration feels a bit laboured. As in all Sharans, the thir-row seats are a bit of a fuss to fold flat because you have to flip the bases over first.

Target Price team says:

The latest Volkswagen Sharan is based on the platform of Volkswagen’s Passat family car, rather than related to the Ford Galaxy, as its predecessor was. However, you still get the impression that Ford and Volkswagen were comparing notes because the way the seats in the Galaxy and Sharan fold is almost identical.

The Sharan is available with four engines, but it’s hard to look past the 138bhp diesel. This provides all the performance you need and is the cleanest and most fuel-efficient model in the line-up, qualifying for a 20% company car tax rating and averaging over 50mpg.

We’d also recommend SE spec, which brings desirable kit such as steering wheel-mounted stereo controls, Bluetooth connectivity and alloy wheels. That said, even the entry-level S model comes with climate control, front and rear electric windows, seven airbags and stability control.
