Essentially, the Paceman is a three-door version of the existing Countryman, albeit with a more dramatic rear roofline. It has room for four, with individual seats in the rear.
The styling blends elements from the Countryman and the regular three-door Mini with new elements such as horizontal tail-lights. The roof can be specified in the same colour as the body or in contrasting black or white.
The front cabin will be familiar to anyone whos driven a Mini or Mini Countryman with its huge central speedometer and a heavily stylised design. Standard equipment on all models includes air-conditioning, sports seats for the front two passengers, the multi-function 'centre rail' and a radio/CD player.

Minis usual extensive options list will continue to be offered on the Paceman. This includes xenon headlights, rain sensing wipers, park distance control, an electrically operated glass roof, bonnet stripes, sat-nav, a Harman/Kardon speaker system and the Mini Connected infotainment system.
Four engines will be offered at launch. The entry-level Mini Cooper Paceman (18,970) gets an 110bhp 1.6-litre petrol motor, good enough for 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds and a top speed of 119mph. It emits 140g/km and average fuel economy of 47mpg.
The Cooper S Paceman has a 1.6-litre petrol engine with 181bhp; it can reach 62mph in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 135mph. It has CO2 emissions of 143g/km of CO2 and average economy of 46.3mpg. Prices start at 22,355 - although the same engine is also available as a four-wheel-drive ALL4 variant (157g/km and 42.2mpg) at 23,610.
The diesel options are the 110bhp/199lb ft Cooper D, which returns figures of 115g/km and 64.2mpg in front-drive form (from 20,210), and 129g/km and 57.7mpg as an ALL4 (from 21,400).
The range-topping Paceman model is the 141bhp/225lb ft Cooper SD ALL4, at 24,290. It can reach 62mph in 9.3 seconds and a top speed of 122mph. It emits 130g/km of CO2 and returns average economy of 57.7mpg. The more potent diesel is also available as a front-drive model (122g/km and 61.4mpg), from 23,070.
