Armed with seriously flared wheelarches, bumper and side sill extensions, a dark mesh grille and a bootlid spoiler, the RS's exterior oozes menace.
That's matched on the inside by full-on RenaultSport bucket seats, a beefier steering wheel and instruments backlit in red.
Power is provided by a 131bhp 1.6-litre engine that has had its exhaust note enhanced to ensure it sounds as good as it looks.
Handling is boosted by enhanced suspension and a wider track, as well as a slightly lower ride height. Those who want an even sportier drive have the option of buying a Cup chassis, which has even stiffer suspension and is designed for use on the track.
The Twingo RS will go on sale in the UK in late summer 2008. Expect prices to start at about 12,000.
