A beautifully made and comfortable cruiser with a surprising amount of space inside. It’s competent rather than particularly fun to drive, though, and its infotainment system is too complex.get the best price

There’s no need to go beyond entry-level Sport trim. Full LED headlights, 19in alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, automatic emergency braking, lane departure assist, cruise control, electric leather seats, sat-nav, a DAB radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring and a powered tailgate are all included. It's worth adding the optional adaptive suspension to get the best ride.

This 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol is strong yet smooth, offering slightly better refinement than the 50 TDI diesel due to less vibration. With 335bhp it's also quicker than the 50 TDI (claimed 0-62mph takes 5.3sec compared with 5.7sec) but you have to rev it harder to extract all its performance.
