The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer has frugal engines, but there are far more spacious MPVs for the money

Trim: M Sport

M Sport cars get the biggest (18in) alloy wheels of the range, stiffer M Sport suspension, a sports steering wheel, sport seats, run flat tyres, leather seats, different headlining and M Sport styling touches inside and out. It’s expensive to buy and doesn’t ride as well as SE trim, so we’d avoid it.

Engine: 218d

An extra cylinder over the 216d, with more power and torque as a result. The premium is relatively small so we'd recommend the 218d if you're likely to carry a few people regularly. Even so, company car drivers may be tempted by the lower CO2 emissions of the smaller diesel.
