Review

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is a spacious MPV with a robust high-quality interior that includes the best infotainment system in the class. It’s good to drive, too, with a broad range of impressive engines and decent plug-in hybrid option. You’ll pay a lot for one, though, even if you stick to the less powerful engines in cheaper trims.

The main reason for selecting M Sport is that you get a sporty bodykit, big wheels and some sporty touches inside. Expensive for not a lot of useful equipment over SE.

We haven’t driven this entry-level three-cylinder diesel, but the performance figures suggest it’ll struggle with a heavy load on board. On the plus side, it’s the second most efficient engine in the range (after the plug-in hybrid).
