Category: Family SUV
Section: Version review

The model
Read full reviewThe BMW X1 is good to drive, classy inside and hugely practical. It isn't as quiet nor as comfortable as the best family SUVs, but it's a fine buy if you fancy something a little more sporty.
get the best priceThe trim
See full equipmentThis range-topping trim comes with 18in alloy wheels, leather seats, extended LED lighting, an aggressive bodykit, stiffer suspension and heated front sports seats. It's too pricey to recommend and you have to suffer a bumpy ride, though.
The engine
See full engine specsWe haven't tried the plug-in hybrid xDrive25e yet but, on paper, it's surprisingly nippy and can be driven on electric power alone for up to 31 miles, according to the official WLTP tests.
