There is a fine line between being different and being an outcast. With funky colour combinations available, the latest Citroen C3 does a good job of turning heads, and is more spacious and practical than previous C3 models. However, soft suspension makes its handling almost comical, while its vague steering does little to boost your confidence. Rivals are much better to drive.

Trim: Flair

This top-spec trim pushes the price up by a reasonable chunk, but for that you do get rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and an in-built dash cam. Other trinkets include automatic lights and wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and privacy glass. It looks different, too, with the distinctive plastic ‘air bump’ side mouldings on the doors, a contrasting coloured roof and door mirrors, plus a leather steering wheel and gearlever.,

Engine: 1.2 PureTech 110

Adding a turbocharger to the 1.2-litre petrol engine stokes it with a much more useful 109bhp. This brings it alive, giving it plenty of power for town or motorway driving. It’s also better on CO2 emissions than the lower power versions, and offers cheaper company car tax than the diesels. The five-speed manual gearbox isn’t very slick, though, and there’s no automatic option.,engine_code:
