The model
Read full Cupra Formentor reviewThe Formentor is slightly more expensive and a bit less practical than the Seat Ateca it's based on. In exchange, it offers sharp coupé SUV looks and a smarter interior. It'll still seat four tall adults and has a decent boot, so it's not impractical, it handles well and, if you stick with our favourite 1.5 TSI V1 version, it's well priced and well equipped.
The trim
See full equipmentThe entry-level Formentor trim is so well equipped it is our pick. It gives you 18in alloy wheels, LED headlights, ambient interior lighting, three-zone climate control, power-folding door mirrors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, keyless entry, plus a 12in touchscreen infotainment system with sat-nav, a DAB radio, wireless charging and Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto.
The engine
See full engine specsThis entry-level engine still has plenty of low-down muscle and enough power (148bhp) for reasonably swift progress and 0-62mph in 8.9sec. Given its affordable purchase price and running costs, with an official average of around 45mpg, it's our pick of the range.
