Review

The big headline news about the Dacia Duster range is its low starting price – far lower than any family SUV rival. It has some obvious shortcomings – particularly its so-so handling and low-rent interior – but if you want cheap, no-frills motoring with more than enough everyday practicality, it's unrivalled.

Trim: Comfort

You’re being asked to fork out a fairly steep premium for this upgrade, but you do get plenty of goodies, including alloy wheels and quite a few body embellishments to help make your Duster look more upmarket. The interior also gets plusher trim and a leather steering wheel.

Engine: 1.3 TCe 130

Our favourite Duster engine is available only on mid-range Comfort models and above. Its 128bhp gives it a pleasing briskness and noticeably more overtaking shove than the less expensive entry-level, 98bhp 1.0-litre TCe 100
