The DS 4’s sculpted interior helps give it a real premium feel, making it a good – if pricey –alternative to the usual family car suspects. However, a disappointing ride and handling balance, together with so-so performance means that it can’t quite stand up to the likes of the Audi A3 or BMW 1 Series.

Trocadero trim takes everything that you get with Bastille + trim and then adds such things as 19in alloy wheels, a chrome front grille, built-in sat nav, the additional small touchscreen in front of the armrest, a head-up display, keyless entry and start, front parking sensors and an upgraded version of the automatic emergency braking system.
