The model
Read full reviewGreat to look at and surprisingly good fun – just don't expect to carry lots of people and luggage. Go for a version with the larger 42kWh battery for a decent range between charges.
get the best priceThe trim
See full equipmentGoing for entry-level Action trim means you’re stuck with the 24kWh battery and a real-world range of less than 100 miles. You don’t get much kit, either, although you do at least get air-conditioning and rear parking sensors.
The engine
See full engine specsWith an official 0-62mph time of 9.6sec, this entry-level 500 is quicker than a Smart EQ Fortwo, but still relatively tardy by modern electric car standards. However, it’s the limited range between charges (less than 100 miles in most real-world driving situations) that’s the main reason we’d recommend paying extra for the 42kWh battery.
