This engine mixes a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system for added fuel efficiency and lowered CO2 emissions. In total it gives you 128bhp to play with and has enough oomph to sprint from 0-62mph in 9.4sec. That’s plenty when it comes to pulling away quickly at a junction, but it’s let down by the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which can be slow to react when you’re on the move.
