The Ford C-Max is not the most practical, nor the best-value, in this class but it is the most fun to drive

Trim: Zetec

This is our favourite trim, although you’re going to want to add a few extras. Zetec comes with alloy wheels, air-con, heated windscreen and side mirrors, lumbar adjustment, a DAB radio, a USB input, Bluetooth and a space-saver spare wheel. You’ll want to add the 8.0in touchscreen with sat-nav and rear parking sensors, though.

Engine: 1.0 EcoBoost

We haven’t driven this engine in the C-Max but, from our experience in the Focus, it’s a sweet-revving engine that’s quite fun and refined, but does need working quite hard to get good performance from it.
