The model
Read full Ford Kuga reviewThe Kuga is a decent large SUV in any guise, but it makes real sense if you opt for the hybrid or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. Shortcomings include the iffy interior quality and the relatively small boot.
The trim
See full equipmentYou have to plump for ST-Line if you want either our favourite hybrid FHEV engine or the plug-in hybrid. This trim is mostly about the interior and exterior styling tweaks, but also gets firmer sports suspension that helps with handling but does compromise ride slightly.
The engine
See full engine specsWith 187bhp, the 2.5 FHEV (full hybrid) gives you plenty of oomph from a standstill, covering 0-62mph in a respectable 9.1sec. Better still, it has enough power to tow up to 1600kg and the hybrid system ensures that you get good economy – officially it’ll manage just over 50mpg.
