The Mach-E is a well-equipped and relatively spacious large electric SUV, but then so is the Kia EV6 and Toyota bZ4X – two SUVs that also happen to have a lower list price and better residuals than the Ford. The Mach-E’s abrupt ride, so-so build quality and relatively slow maximum charging rate is also something of a disappointment. That said, if you really have your heart set on a Mach-E, we would recommend opting for the entry-level Standard Range RWD as it represents the best value in the range

The entry-level, rear-wheel-drive Mach-E is our pick. The 68kWh (useable) standard range battery and motor set-up produces a respectable 265bhp and will officially take you 273 miles on a single charge – we made that 211 miles in the real world. And it's quicker than a Volkswagen ID.4 Pro Performance, turning out 0-62mph in 6.9sec. The all-wheel-drive version has the same power and accelerates quicker (0-62mph in 6.3sec) but its range drops to 248 miles.
