Review

The Genesis G80 has its strengths, namely safety and interior quality. It’s worth a look if you’re bored with the big-selling European alternatives. Just bear in mind that, objectively at least, the BMW 5 Series is a considerably better all-rounder.

Upgrading to Luxury Line gets you some extra luxuries, including quilted leather seats, a heated steering wheel and some extra air-conditioning controls in the rear seat area. We’d save the money, though.

This 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol is certainly quick. It sends its 300bhp to all four wheels, helping you get you away from the line without drama. You need to rev the engine quite hard to get the best from it, though, and when you do so it sounds a little strained.
