The Honda Civic Saloon is good to drive, has a big boot and comes with lots of standard kit. Shame its infotainment system is so poor

SE might come with the basics, but we’d recommend upgrading to SR trim. This gets you 17in alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, auto wipers, fog lights, a leather steering wheel and gearknob, lumbar adjustment on the driver’s seat and crucially a 7.0in touchscreen infotainment system with sat nav. Although it’s the worst system in the class, you do get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that allows you to bypass it entirely.
Engine: 1.0 VTEC Turbo
This three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine has adequate poke and is both cheaper and more refined than the 1.6-litre diesel. Unless you do mega miles, it’d be our pick.
