Review

If you're looking for a small package that offers cultured motoring on a sensible budget, then you must check out the Hyundai i10. It's relatively spacious, comes with a smart-looking interior, a great infotainment system and it rides and drives more impressively than plenty of bigger, pricier cars. The list price might look a bit steep, but if you check out the monthly PCP deals you'll find it's more affordable than it initially looks.

We’d recommend upgrading to SE Connect for its enhanced infotainment system – with an 8.0in touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – a rear-view camera and 15in alloy wheels (in place of wheel trims). It also opens up the ability to have our favourite 1.2 MPi 84 engine, too.

This entry-level engine is good enough for town work, but needs working hard to maintain speed up hills or on motorways – 0-62mph takes 14.6sec. We'd steer you towards the more powerful 1.2 MPi 84 instead, which in reality won't cost a lot more in fuel because you're not working it as hard. Available with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox – the latter is the same but with a robot working the clutch and gears for you, and gear changes can be very slow.
