Review

A sensible small car with plenty of space and equipment, the Hyundai i20 is an affordable and capable city cruiser. Its engines feel a bit gutless compared with rivals in the Ford Fiesta, though, and you’ll find yourself wanting a bit more oomph on the motorway.

Trim: Premium SE Nav

Range-topping Premium SE Nav adds chrome exterior trim highlights and a sunroof, as well as heated seats and a heated steering wheel, but it’s expensive.

Engine: 1.0 T-GDi [120]

The higher-powered (118bhp) version of the 1.0-litre turbo engine offers noticeably perkier acceleration. Even so, these engines don’t come close to the kind of impressive, flexible performance offered by Ford’s Ecoboost or Volkswagen’s TSI engines.
