The Hyundai Tucson is well worth considering if interior space is high on your list of priorities. Four tall adults will have plenty of room inside, the boot is cavernous and interior quality is impressive, although some rivals offers a more comfortable ride and better handling. The entry-level petrol engine is the best choice for private buyers, while the PHEV is the smart choice as a company car.

Premium models get additional kit over SE Connect, including adaptive cruise control, larger alloy wheels, wireless phone-charging, front and rear parking sensors, ambient lighting, a Krell premium stereo upgrade and keyless entry.

This has the same 148bhp and 0-62mph of 10.3sec as the entry-level petrol version (which is the only one without hybrid tech and only comes with a manual gearbox), but adds 48-volt mild hybrid technology (badged MHEV) for added efficiency and the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
