The Kia Ceed Sportswagon is competitive in lots of areas but, unlike the best rival estates, it fails to be outstanding anywhere and give us a compelling reason to recommend it over the better-handling Ford Focus, the more practical Skoda Octavia, the fuel-efficient Toyota Corolla or the more refined and comfortable Volkswagen Golf.get the best price

Upgrade to 3 trim and you'll get dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, privacy glass, power-folding door mirrors, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers and larger alloy wheels – on top of everything that's standard on entry-level 2 trim. Worth a look, especially if you can get a good discount, but we reckon 2 trim is the pick of the range.

The only choice if you want diesel power. It pulls easily and offers more flexible in-gear performance than the 1.0 T-GDi. It’s only really for those who can take advantage of its decent fuel economy over big miles, or those who regularly tow a caravan. Available with a manual or automatic transmission.
