This second-generation Kia Niro Hybrid is competitively priced, generously equipped and thrifty on fuel. The regular Hybrid is the best choice for most buyers who aren't ready to go fully electric with the Niro EV. However, don't rule out the PHEV if you're a company car driver. Either way, we reckon entry-level 2 trim makes the most sense.

Mid-level 3 trim comes with everything most buyers will want – even heated front seats and wireless phone-charging. We reckon entry-level 2 trim represents better value for money, though.

Expect impressive efficiency, especially around town, but adequate rather than blistering acceleration. Most buyers will be better with this regular Hybrid rather than the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.
