The Kia Sportage is a great all-round family SUV that offers a generous amount of space for four and in the boot, with one of best interiors in its class. The Sportage still makes the most sense if you stick with the lower trim levels, but despite the Hyundai Tucson being a slightly cheaper route into a hybrid family SUV, we reckon the Sportage is the slightly more polished alternative.

The entry-level Sportage comes well equipped with alloy wheels, LED headlamps, cruise control, climate control and an electronic parking brake. The 8in touchscreen is the smallest on offer but it still comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity. There's also a rear-view camera, as well as front and rear parking sensors.

This entry-level diesel produces 113bhp and comes in two-wheel-drive form only with a manual gearbox. It takes 11.7 seconds to get from 0-60mph and makes sense for high-mileage drivers who can make the most of the higher MPG figures.
