The Sportage is a great all-round family SUV that offers a generous amount of space front and rear, plus a large boot and one of best interiors in its class. In our favourite 3 trim, you get loads of equipment, and entry-level trims make a lot of sense compared with pricier rivals. The Hyundai Tucson is slightly cheaper, but the Sportage is a more polished alternative.

This sportier trim level adds some extra style, with 18in or 19in alloy wheels (depending on the engine) and exterior tweaks. It also upgrades the infotainment screen to a 12.3in one with built-in sat-nav and adds adaptive cruise control, driver lumbar support, suede leather upholstery and keyless entry/start.

This self-charging hybrid combines a 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine with an electric motor and 1.49kWh battery. Power is a combined output of 226bhp and is fitted with a six-speed automatic only. Drive is sent to the front wheels, but a four-wheel drive option is available on top-spec GT Line S.
