Avoid the less powerful engines, but the Stinger 3.3 V6 GT S is a belter: sweet handling, potent and much cheaper than an Audi S5 Sportback

Trim: GT-Line

Even entry-level GT-Line trim comes with a vast number of toys; everything from heated electric front seats (with memory recall for the driver) and full leather seat trim to a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, sat-nav, a DAB radio, Bluetooth and an 8.0in touchscreen.

Engine: 2.2 CRDi

This diesel option is best avoided. It's pleasantly quick above 3500rpm, but is also far louder than is acceptable in a premium car. It's also inefficient in terms of CO2 next to its immediate rivals.
