Review

The Land Rover Defender is a rugged SUV that fuses fantastic off-road ability with accomplished on-road manners. If that's the blend of abilities you're after, it's effectively in a class of one. But the Jeep Wrangler if even better in the rough stuff, while premium SUVs, including the Audi Q5 and Q7, are more comfortable.

You might want to consider S as it adds 19in alloy wheels, automatic main beam, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, a central front armrest, part leather seats and a digital driver’s display for a reasonable additional fee.

We’re yet to try this entry-level diesel engine.
