The Land Rover Defender fuses fantastic off-road ability with fine on-road manners. If that's the blend of abilities you're after it's a fantastic choice. Of the various bodystyles, we think the 110 model in seven-seat form makes the most sense. Stick with the cheaper trims (our favourite is S) to keep the price respectable, and add air suspension for a smoother ride and tidier handling.
