The Discovery Sport, especially in seven-seat form, is far more practical and family-friendly than rivals such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, which is why it's one of our favourite Large SUVs. Those German alternatives are ultimately more comfortable, nimbler and fuel-efficient, though, while you can get even more space for less with the excellent Peugeot 5008.get the best price
This top-spec trim comes with all the toys you'd ever need including keyless entry, a Meridian sound system, adaptive cruise control and 14-way electric seats. However, it's pricey and comes on big 20in wheels that don't help the low-speed ride.
Engine: 2.0 D180
The D180 engine (with 178bhp) is the best all-round engine in the range. Yes, it's quite a bit slower than similarly powerful X3s and Q5s, but thanks to lots of low-down torque it's fine when you're just ambling around and it’ll trundle up hills fully loaded quite happily. You just need to leave a good distance when overtaking on a country road.
