Review

The Mercedes C-Class Estate isn’t the most practical of estate cars, but it still offers useful extra versatility over the C-Class saloon, plus it’s a very comfortable choice. It’s also worth noting that the C300e and C300de plug-in hybrids qualify for low rates of BIK tax, thanks to their long electric ranges.

This trim level gets a 12.3in digital driver display and an 11.9in touchscreen running the latest MBUX infotainment system with wireless smartphone integration and a reversing camera. You also get LED headlights, blind-spot monitoring, leather trim and heated front seats.

This 201bhp mild-hybrid petrol engine uses electric assistance for extra power and efficiency, but it’s surprisingly noisy when revved out, and doesn’t feel as fast as its power and performance figures suggest. It does, however, stack up well against equivalent units in competitors.
