Like the EQS saloon, the EQS SUV impresses with its refinement, range between charges and performance in a straight line. It then adds to that a spacious and luxuriously appointed interior that’ll make you want to go on long drives. We just wish the interior was put together a little better, especially at this price point.

The entry-level trim doesn't actually feel very entry-level. You’ll find a vast standard equipment list that includes 21in alloy wheels, privacy glass, climate control, an acoustic comfort pack to reduce noise, keyless entry and start, and a whole host of infotainment tech.

The entry-level version is our pick of the range and gives you more than enough pace. With 355bhp and a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.0sec, it shouldn’t struggle to cope with pretty much anything that you can throw at it. It also has the longest range, taking you up to 365 miles before you need to plug it in.
