Like the EQS saloon, the EQS SUV impresses with its refinement, range between charges and performance in a straight line. It then adds to that a spacious and luxuriously appointed interior that’ll make you want to go on long drives. We just wish the interior was put together a little better, especially at this price point.

Upgrading to top-spec Business Class is like upgrading to the first-class cabin on a plane. That’s especially true for those in the rear, with the equipment list gaining massaging rear seats, high-definition screens on the back of both front seats and a tablet to control things like the climate control from the rear.

The entry-level version is our pick of the range and gives you more than enough pace. With 355bhp and a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.0sec, it shouldn’t struggle to cope with pretty much anything that you can throw at it. It also has the longest range, taking you up to 365 miles before you need to plug it in.
