While it’s extraordinarily capable on rough terrain, there are better choices for on-road driving, and for considerably less money. Subjectively, though, it’s hard not to be drawn in by its old-school charms and its great sense of occasion. So, while it doesn't get a particularly high What Car? star rating, we wouldn't dream of telling you not to buy one. We would, however, be a bit jealous if you did.

For an extra level of luxury, the optional Premium Pack adds the Burmester stereo we mentioned earlier, plus an electric panoramic roof, 360deg parking and the adaptive suspension, at extra cost.
