AMG Line trim mostly focuses on making the GLA look sportier, bringing 19in AMG-branded alloy wheels, a bodykit, darkened privacy glass, sports seats, metal pedals and a three-spoke sports steering wheel. Unless you really love what it does to the car’s appearance, though, we wouldn’t bother.

If you’ve got your heart set on a petrol engine, and can afford its high price and running costs, the GLA250 is the model to choose. It’s hot hatch-fast, yet also has plenty of low-down muscle. Plus, it combines smoothness at low speeds with a sporty rasp when it’s revved out.
