The model
Read full reviewThe Mini 3dr is a hugely desirable small car that has plenty of substance to match its style. We’d recommend a peppy yet frugal Cooper in Exclusive trim to make the most of the Mini’s biggest strength, its well appointed interior. If practicality is high on your shortlist, we’d point you in the direction of the even more impressive Audi A1, though.

See full equipmentThis is the cheapest version of the sporty Cooper S, although you still get a fair amount of kit including 16in alloy wheels, LED front and rear lights, auto lights and wipers, a 6.5in infotainment controlled by a rotary dial, Bluetooth, a DAB radio, sports seats, and a sports multi-function steering wheel trimmed in leather. Add an option pack or two, and it’s all you need.
The engine
See full engine specsThis 2.0-litre gives strong performance, but a Ford Fiesta ST would show it clean pair of tyres away from the lights. The heavier engine blunts handling compared with the lighter 1.5-litre Cooper, too.
