The Mini 3dr is a hugely desirable small car that has plenty of substance to match its style. We’d recommend a peppy yet frugal Cooper in Exclusive trim to make the most of the Mini’s biggest strength, its well appointed interior. If practicality is high on your shortlist, we’d point you in the direction of the even more impressive Audi A1, though.

This luxury oriented trim adds 17in alloy wheels with a diamond cut finish, extra chrome accents inside and out, a Mini Yours leather steering wheel, leather sports seats and cruise control.

This 2.0-litre gives strong performance, but a Ford Fiesta ST would show it clean pair of tyres away from the lights. The heavier engine blunts handling compared with the lighter 1.5-litre Cooper, too.
